Muriel Mitchel Bacon
Muriel Branagan Bacon was born into a pioneer family that arrived in Nevada City in 1852. She was born in Grass Valley. She received training at the California School of Fine Arts and undertook graduate work with Kenneth Hayes Miller at the Art Student's League in New York. She completed her formal training at the Academie Julian in Paris.
Her first one-man show was held at the Crocker Museum in Sacramento, followed by solo exhibits at the Dallas Museum in Texas, in San Francisco and at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. She has also shown widely in group shows held throughout the USA.
She has travelled and painted in Europe, Africa, Pacific Oceania and in Mexico.
